“As part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, more than 2,022 beacons will be lit.

Each will light at the same local time throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, with one also being lit in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of Her Majesty The Queen’s long and selfless service.

These beacons will enable local communities, individuals and organisations to pay tribute to her as part of the official Platinum Jubilee Weekend of celebrations – and Newport & District Agricultural Society (NADAS) & Harper Adams University are proud to be taking part.

The beacon will be a bespoke beacon brazier, designed by Harper Adams University, Engineering society students and built with the help of technical staff in the Engineering department and the Estates carpentry team. Many staff and friends from across the University & NADAS and the local community have also kindly helped to support the project. The beacon will be lit on the high ground at Chetwynd Deer Park, by kind permission of the Trustees and Newport and District Agricultural Society.

While the ceremony itself is open only to invited guests, due to the protected nature of the Deer Park, this page has been designed to allow members of our University community, alumni, and the wider community to join us to both watch the ceremony live – or to be able to watch it at a time that works best for them!
